Who we are

French with Carla is a private French tutoring service run by Carla Karam in Mississauga, Ontario. Carla is responsible for the personal information described on this page and is the person to contact about privacy. You can reach her by phone or text at +1 (647) 894-6867.

What we collect and why

  • When you visit this website. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, how visitors found the site, and general information about their device, browser and approximate location. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the site.
  • When you contact Carla. If you call, text or message Carla on WhatsApp, she receives your phone number, your name if you share it, and the content of your messages. These are used to answer your questions and arrange lessons.
  • When you take lessons. To plan and teach your lessons, Carla keeps the information you share with her, such as your name, contact details, French level, goals and lesson notes. For students under 18, lessons are arranged with a parent or guardian, who provides this information.

This website has no forms or accounts, and we never sell or rent personal information.

Service providers and where data is stored

The following companies process data for us, or when you choose to use their service. They may store it outside Canada, including in the United States, where it can be subject to local laws.

How long we keep it

  • Google Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Messages and student information are kept only as long as they are needed to answer you and give lessons, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. To make a request, call or text Carla at +1 (647) 894-6867. We will reply within 30 days.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, if you live in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
